Voters will have the opportunity to elect four members of the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Greene County council at the Nov. 3 general election.
“The council members elected this year will be involved in bringing educational opportunities to Greene County for the next four years,” Lori Mannel, County Extension Director said. ISU Extension and Outreach Greene County educational programming is a cooperative effort involving local citizens, Iowa State University and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Extension council members are elected at large, and all voters in the county are eligible to vote for four candidates.
Candidates on this year’s ballot include:
- Brent Badger of rural Bagley is a area farmer, beef producer and 4-H superintendent.
- Dustin Fouch of rural Grand Junction is the owner of Fouch Ag Service, dealer for Channel Seed. Dustin is a farmer with a cow/calf operation.
- Shari Minnehan is renewing her term on the council. She resides in rural Churdan and is the Churdan library director.
- Scott Weber of Jefferson is the business development manager of Heartland Bank in Jefferson.
Extension council members whose terms expire this year are Tom Heater of Jefferson, Shari Minnehan of rural Churdan, Doug Rieder of Jefferson and Bob Smith of Jefferson. Carryover council members whose terms continue beyond the end of 2020 are Bruce Bahnson of Jefferson, Kyle Niles of rural Paton, Pam Olerich of Jefferson, Jill Rasmussen of rural Jefferson, and Jessi Riley of rural Rippey.
Successful candidates will take office in January 2021.
Extension council members make programming and budget decisions for ISU Extension and Outreach in Greene County. They work with decision makers, build relationships, and address local issues. Extension council members are advocates, stewards, and everyday citizens who link people with life-changing programs. Through partnerships, they provide resources, research and education to assist Iowans.
